Tim’s novel, Unstoppable, was nominated for this award. The Iowa Center for the Book (ICB) is a program of Iowa Library Services/State Library and an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. The mission of the ICB is to stimulate public interest in books, reading, literacy and libraries. The ICB Advisory Council provides advice to the State Librarian and the Coordinator of the Iowa Center for the Book about activities and policies, and helps implement programs. In March, teens across Iowa take part in the nomination of books for the Iowa Teen Award. These books are reviewed by the ITA committee and volunteer readers and the list is narrowed. During the summer, the adult readers read and rate the titles. The committee members finalize the list a year ahead of time.

Pinch Hit: 2014-2015 MASL Readers Awards Final Nominee
MASL’s four Readers Awards represent the best current youth literature available to students of different grade levels. Every year, MASL’s Readers Award Committees work to create a preliminary list of titles that are read and voted upon by groups of Reader/Selectors to create the final list of nominees. Titles on the final list are then read and voted upon by students across Missouri to determine the recipients of the MASL Readers Awards.

The Buckeye Children’s and Teen Book Award program is designed to encourage students in Ohio to read literature critically, to promote teacher and librarian involvement in young adult literature programs, and to commend authors of such literature. The Teen category was added to the existing Buckeye Children’s Book Award in 2003.

The Buckeye Children’s Book Award program was established in 1981 through a collaborative effort of the Ohio Council of the International Reading Association, The Ohio Educational Library Media Association, The Ohio Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts, The Ohio Library Council and the State Library of Ohio.
Teachers and librarians serve on the Buckeye Children’s and Teen Book Award Council. Current sponsoring agencies are:
State Library of Ohio
Ohio Council International
Reading Association (OCIRA)
The Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (OCTELA)
The Ohio Educational Library
Media Association (OELMA)
The Ohio Library Council (OLC)
The Kent State University School of
Library and Information Science
The Council’s primary job is to prepare the master voting list and post it on the website after nominations are in, and then tabulate and announce the results. The Council also promotes the award, and maintains the BCBA and TBBA websites. The BCBA archives are kept in the Reinberger Children’s Library Center at Kent State University School of Library and Information Science.
Unstoppable: selected for the Truman Award Nominee List (2014-15)
The Truman Readers Award Program is a state wide children’s choice reading program for students in sixth-eighth grades. It is sponsored by the Missouri Association of School Librarians. Each year there is a new list of 12 quality chapter books that have been selected by teachers and librarians from around the state. The students must read or listen to at least four books from the list in order to be able to vote for their favorite book.
The MSB Library Media Center works with Wolfner Library for the Blind to provide as many of these books as possible in recorded formats for Missouri children to read.
Thousands of children around Missouri participate in this program each year. Here at MSB, those students who participate are invited to attend the St. Louis Storytelling Festival. Participants also receive a certificate of recognition from the Missouri Association of School Librarians. The author of the book which receives the most votes statewide receives a special award.
